Let Each Breath Change You

Yesterday my alarm went off at 5:30 am, which hasn't happened in a long time but I wanted to start my week of the best way possible... on the mat.

My yoga mat that is

There is a great 7 am class at my gym but getting out of bed and out of the house by 6:45 am in freezing weather is one of the hardest tasks.
I did it.
It wasn't easy but I did it.

The instructor that teaches the class is quickly becoming one of my favorites, and that says a lot because this was only my second practice with her. I love the stories she tells before/after class and the quotes she shares. Yesterday she said something that really resonated with me but I couldn't remember it word for word so I came up with my own version.

No matter what you're doing: Working, Cooking, Yoga, Running, Playing, etc.
Try and keep this with you.
Every moment is precious and things can change at any time, you just never know.

After work I planned on taking my usual Monday night total body weight class but since there was a sub teaching I decided to go home bake cookies and make dinner for Eddie and I instead. Making dinner [especially during the week] is almost unheard of for me, either he cooks or I have a protein shake, so to be able to bake and cook for him was a really nice change of pace.

For dinner I made grilled chicken, sauteed spinach topped with melted feta cheese.
Although the cheese sauce was time consuming because it required the double boiler method,
IT WAS EPIC
After dinner we settled in for The Voice final performances.

If you watch who do you think is going to win?
We both really want Jacquie Lee but I have a sneaking suspicion Tessanne will. As of now she her performances are #1 and #4 on the iTunes charts.

Fingers crossed for Team Christina!!

  1. I typically love the voice - but for some reason this season - I never really "got into" it

  2. How about you get up early and do all the workout stuff, and I eat all the cookies? Deal?

  3. I have been keeping my alarm set for 6am with every intention of running or doing some form of cross training before work as I did all summer when marathon training. But with these cold dark mornings I have been choosing to stay in bed with the dog for another hour. Sigh! We only regret the workouts we miss right? Those cookies look awesome. Feta makes everything delish. Just found your blog today. Will def add to my daily reads. :)

  4. Perfect timing! I've been thinking the past few days that I'm so busy I feel like I'm missing out. I need to slow down. Thanks for the reminder :)

  5. I'm so glad you and Eddie were able to spend some time just enjoying one another. In my opinion keeping relationships healthy is a very important part of being healthy as a whole.
