A few months ago I was in my local health food store when I stumbled upon a display of flavored kale chips. At this point I had never eaten kale in any form and was hesitant to spend $8.00 on something I may not like, instead I bought a bag of kale from Trader Joes and made my own.
It was love at first bite.
They tasted just as good, if not better than regular chips and you can eat a much bigger portion because they are healthy!
So this weekend I went back to the health food store in my town, and saw the display of kale chips. This time I did not hesitate to purchase a box, despite the price.
Ladies and Gentlemen I present you Ed's of Maine vegan kale chips
Upon further investigation I have found they are made right here on Long Island and sadly they do not have a website, however you can purchase them online in bulk on several different websites.
The white cheddar flavor above is my favorite, you honestly do not even know you are eating kale. Another great thing is the ingredients are 100% all natural( read for yourself) they are vegan, gluten and dairy free. They come in 4 flavors: White cheddar, Nacho Cheese(warning:these are spicy...I learned the hard way) Cheesy Pizza (I haven't tried this flavor yet) and Sour Cream and Onion(YUM)
What are the nutritional facts you ask?
I cannot say enough great things about this snack, it is something everyone needs to try for themselves. If you want to make your own batch try my recipe: Yummy Kale Chips! and try different spices to change the flavors. Have fun with it!
If you have a kale chips recipe of your own OR have a brand you suggest please let me know :)
