Let Go of What's Holding You Back

Yesterday when I woke up I did something that has been on my mind for a very long time.

This post is sponsored by Babblebox.com on behalf of Single Edition Media.

With Father's Day just behind us I'm sure you're thinking, why is she posting this now? The truth is there is no right or wrong time to spoil the man in your life, whether he is your spouse, brother, father or friend I wanted to share a few of Eddie's current "must have items" with you to keep in your back pocket the next time you're searching for the perfect gift.

Making Memories

For as long as I can remember my mom has been telling us to "make a memory."
Because at the end of the day, it's not about the money you have in the bank but the memories you have to look back on.

Since becoming a mother myself this little quote of hers has really taken on a new meaning, I find myself looking to do things with Molly and Eddie every chance I get.  This weekend was jam packed with moments that I know will turn into memories.

Find Your "Person"

One of the hardest parts of any journey, weight loss or otherwise, is feeling alone.

I mean think about it, who wants to do 100 push ups while eating boiled chicken and steamed broccoli, by themselves?

Answer: No one

How to Crush Your Early Morning Workout in 6 Steps

Since rejoining the 5am club a few weeks ago I have finally nailed down my routine to getting out the door swiftly and most importantly, easily.

6 Steps for a successful early AM workout:

1. Set out your clothes the night before.
For me, this is key because I am not only trying to avoid waking my husband and our dogs but the toddler who is in the room right next to us. The less steps around the bedroom(s), the better. Plus, I like to look cute before I turn into a sweaty mess, it motivates me.

What's New at Trader Joe's #2

When I went looking for the first post I did in this "series" I couldn't believe it was back in November. I need to stop taking such lengthy breaks between regularly posting.

This morning after class I ran home got Molly fed and dressed before getting back in the car for a Trader Joe's run. We were those people sitting in the parking lot for twenty minutes waiting for it to open.

My original plan: Milk, PBJ bars and ghee.
What I left with: $165 of groceries

If You Need Us, We'll Be Outside...

Is there anything better than playing outside in the Spring and Summer?

Some of my favorite childhood memories include swimming in pools or the ocean with cousins and friends, catching lightening bugs or planning sleepovers.

So far we have spent the majority of our free time outdoors and by the looks of it, we won't be stopping anytime soon.

Which is more than okay with me!

I am so excited for our first real Summer with Molly where we can play and explore new things, go on adventures, take family bike rides after dinner and eat too much ice cream on the porch.

I've been thinking about putting together a Summer 2017 bucket list, something that we can use as a guide over the next three months and to remind us to enjoy every moment.

Have you ever made/used a bucket list?
If so, what was on it?

Setting a Summer Goal and Starting Over

It's funny how my last post I was raving about my final assessments and how I improved in all areas, some even by a large margin.

Those numbers were from a little over three weeks ago and as I had mentioned I am no longer "in session" but I am planning on attending every morning class that is offered.

This morning kicked off the Summer sessions and the beauty of having a membership is not having to be a part of assessments, which for me means not having to run a mile. But I wanted to see how eating a little less strictly and drinking a little more has affected my workouts, if at all.

For once, I slept really well so it helped me get up at the ungodly time that is 4:45 am. I made my coffee with collagen and nutpods before hitting the road at 5:15.

In my last session we ran first and did everything else after, but this morning we did the opposite. As you can see (and if you remember) all of my numbers are less than what I finished with less than a month ago.

And the mile run?

I am essentially right where I started in March. However, this was the first mile I ran straight through without a single stop and it was a different time of day on different course. Who knows if that affected me but I am using all of these numbers as a reminder to keep myself in line and stay on track because ultimately I want to continue to improve in strength and speed.

FUN FACT: If you don't take a selfie after you workout, it doesn't count.

My goal for before Labor Day is to run a mile in under 10 minutes. I've never been able to pull it off but I'll be damned if I don't work at it and try.

What are your Summer fitness goals?
