Becoming a Professional Juggler

For most people following the mostly same routine day in and day out would become torture. For me, it is how I thrive. Since having Molly these last two months have been schedule and routine free which has left me feeling stressed. Don't get me wrong I am loving every single second of motherhood and I cannot believe she is already 8 weeks old, but momma needs some routine back in her life.

This need for a schedule became much more prevalent when I starting working again last week. Suddenly I was juggling a newborn, working from home and housework in addition to trying to get back into a gym routine.
It was overwhelming to say the least.
The gym is my happy place and now more than ever it makes me feel like a normal person in society again. But with Eddie and I being on completely opposite schedules and the classes I like to attend falling at the wrong days/times it's been difficult to adjust.

For now I am focusing on my life outside of the gym and working on a new routine (more to come in another post) which has left me relying heavily on my two planners.

Yes, two planners.

Doesn't the cover remind you of the Very Hungry Caterpillar?

For work I am using my Erin Condren hourly ( save $10 on your first order by clicking here ) which has quickly become my favorite planner. I am able to map out my days which are filled with meetings and to-do lists and visualy see how much I am getting done each day.

This is an idea of how last week looked which was my first week back to work. As you can see, there was a lot going on and by Sunday night I was beyond exhausted.

I am still working on this weeks work/to-do schedule while trying to include my own workout plan but I will update you on the finished week if you're interested.
Now that Instagram has FINALLY added the function to switch between accounts I will be using my planner/organizational account much more regularly: @justkeepplanning

My second planner is my Filofax in the original size with Sew Much Crafting inserts. I use this one more for family plans, TV shows and memories.

I made the tabs myself, if you would like me to do a post on how I made them leave a comment below :)

Here is an example of a finished week in my Filofax

Oops! I still need to finish filling in last weekends events.

And as you can see this week is untouched as of now.

I would love to start including more planner related posts here if that is something of interested to you guys. Feel free to post your thoughts below or leave me a comment on Facebook.

In 29 days I will be leaving my 20's behind and entering my third decade of life. I wish I had followed through on my plans to create a 30 before 30 list but alas I did not. Instead, I am here to recap and reflect on 20 moments from my 20's.

I Survived

Monday night was my return to the gym and I must admit I was incredibly anxious about how my body would handle jumping right back into my Tabata class. Right before I left the house I gave myself a little pep talk with Eddie and Molly as my witnesses.

Here are a few things I repeatedly told myself in the mirror:

- I am doing this not only for myself but to be a better role model for my daughter

-My body is not back to where it was when I was at my peak fitness level and that's okay

-I am not competing with anyone else, just myself

-Getting to the gym is a big accomplishment on broken, or on this particular day, no sleep

This went on for a good fifteen minutes.

When I arrived to class I was so thankful two of my girlfriends were there on either side of me so I didn't have to go through it alone. I was also welcomed with open arms and cheers from our teacher which made me feel much more at ease and reminded me just how much I missed him kicking my booty.

I am still dealing with lack of bladder control (TMI? Don't care it's the truth) so jumping around was not easy for me for fear of peeing in my pants with every move but I made slight modifications, high knees instead of burpees or jumping jacks, and was able to get the workout I had been craving.

At the end of class I remembered why I fell in love with working out in the first place. I was on an endorphin high and left the gym feeling like Elle Woods.

(and no, I have no desire or intention to shoot my husband)

Unfortunately Eddie and I are on polar opposite schedules so I am only able to make it to classes on Monday and Thursday nights at the moment so I need to figure out what to do Tuesday,Wednesday and Saturday/Sunday. If you would like an updated post on my fitness routine/schedule once I create it let me now in the comments below!

For the moment I am just easing back into things and my goal is working out 3x a week consistently to build my stamina back up.  It will take time and patience but as always, something is better than nothing.

Here's to sweating again!

Starting Over

This Monday marks not only a new week but a new month. It also means I am back to work, even if it is from home it brings it's own challenges with a newborn and I will be going back to my gym for the first time since I was 25 weeks pregnant.

That is a lot of firsts for a Monday morning! In terms of fitness, as I have mentioned before, I feel as though I am starting over. My nerves for my first post-baby group fitness class are similar to the first day of school. Thankfully I have two of my girlfriends who will be there with me and will no doubt be giving me an extra boost of motivation when I am modifying in the corner trying not to pee my pants from all of the jumping jacks and bouncing around ( my bladder/pelvic floor is still recovering)

The most difficult part for me will be coming to terms with the fact that I am not even close to the shape I was pre-pregnancy but I will be, in time.  A big part of this will be focusing on what I can do and not what I can't, self love people that is what it's all about.

For now I am off to tackle this new day and I will report back with how things went tomorrow.

Happy Monday everyone!
