FitBit Flex VS Polar FT7



Over the weekend I decided to start wearing my FitBit Flex that I recieved in my PopSugar Target Must Have Box (what a mouthful) back in January. 

Since I've started working from home I have noticed that I am moving less, even if I am getting to the gym 5 times a week. So I have challenged myself to 10k steps a day.

Sunday was my first day using my FitBit flex and although it was a rest day from the gym I was inspired to move more. The dogs and I went on 4 long walks and although I missed my goal for the day it was even more of a push for Monday.




Yesterday was day 2 and I wasn't sure if I wanted to include my workout towards my 10k steps goal until I saw how hard it was to get there. I took 2 work breaks to walk the dogs and I couldn't even break 4,000 steps before my class. By the end of the day, even with my hour long Tabata class I was under my goal and under Sunday's total steps.



I am still wearing my Polar FT7 during my workouts because wearing a chest strap is really the only way to accurately monitor your heart rate/get total calories burned, However I hated wearing both of them during class. 
At first I had them both on my left wrist, but at some point during our warm up the FitBit shut my Polar off and I lost 15 minutes of my burn. I decided to then put one on each wrist which not only looked silly, it didn't feel great on my wrists during burpees.



For this very reason I want a Polar A300. It is the Fitbit and Polar heart rate monitors all in one. You have the option to add a chest strap for your workouts or use it without and you can change the wristbands as you please. If I had the extra $180 I would order one of these today, it's the perfect fitness watch for all of my needs!

Spring Home Decor!





Over the weekend I made a trip to Home Goods and Marshalls in hopes adding a few pops of color in our home for Spring. 
Turns out I had to hold myself back from buying almost everything that caught my eye! Right now both stores are chock full of all things nautical and while we don't have any sort of theme in our home I found myself wanting everything. It's the Long Island in me ;)



At first I wasn't sure the place mats I picked up were going to work with our curtains but I figured since both are navy and white it may work even with very different patterns. 
I added fake coral flowers and yellow candles to keep things from getting too matchy matchy in the way of color.


I absolutely love our bar but it is one of the hardest areas of our home for me to decorate. I'm not sure why but it haunts my dreams. So when I came across this print that had not only an alcohol themed quote but it was said by the one and only Carrie Bradshaw AND it was pink, I knew I had to have it.

I also picked up a light pink candle holder (top right) and added some fresh flowers from BJ's plus a few odds and ends that we already had and I think it worked out nicely. It doesn't feel done just yet, even though I have switched the arrangement several times before snapping this photo (Eddie thinks I am nuts) but hopefully I'll find peace at my bar soon.

Sticking with my love affair with anything bright/pink/coral I picked up two new hand towels for my bathroom. 
I love how they sit in between my nail polish racks and my turquoise towel dresser
 (had no idea what to call it)
It's a burst of color every time I walk in!
The "C" was on clearance for $2! Therefore it had to come home with me to sit upon my desk as a reminder that my name starts with C.
And who can resist brightly colored, mini mason jar citronella candles for the porch!?
Not me.


Our entire kitchen is white, appliances-counter tops-cabinets... I HATE IT. Not only does it look dirty 98% of the time, no matter how often I clean it (which is several times a day) it's just so... blah.
Lately I have added bits and pieces of bright color to break up the overwhelming amount of white. The dish towels are a welcome addition to the kitchen, even Eddie agrees!



And lastly we have the bedroom. Our bed, dressers and Eddie's desk are all black wood, our night stands and bedding is all grey so I was craving color in a big way.
I picked up the three pillows and blanket from Home Goods and the print from Marshalls, it still looks pretty boring to me but I am hoping to add more color to it soon!

I can't wait until we find our "forever home," I want paint on the walls and to decorate a place we plan to live in for more than a year. Plus after moving every year for 8 years I am OVER IT.

This Is Not A Diet...It's A Lifestyle




I hate the word "DIET"
It makes me feel restricted and trapped.
Anytime I have tried to "diet" in the past I have failed, which made me feel like a failure.



I try my best to focus on an 80/20 eating lifestyle (because love pizza and buffalo chicken anything)
and I kill it in the gym 5-6 days a week. However, I have mentioned many times on my little corner of the Internet that I have struggled to find balance since moving to Virginia.



The Tone It Up Bikini Series kicks off on Monday and I have been a long time TIU Girl but I have never fully participated in any of their challenges/series because I didn't want to have to feel like I was on a "diet." 
What's great about the Tone It Up plan is they focus on an all around healthy lifestyle and eating clean, whole foods VS crash dieting.

This year I am committing myself to the 8 week series and the main reason behind this decision is I have no reason not to. Karena and Katrina aka the Tone It Up girls have provided the members with not only an updated meal plan but they have provided us with 8 weeks of daily meals for us to follow.
 

 
 
This morning I printed out the "Seaside Staples" which is a list of everything I need to have on hand at all times for the next 8 weeks and the "Catch of the Week" checklist which is the all of the food I need for Week 1.


I will be tracking all of my food + workouts in my Erin Condren life planner and if you want I will share a weekly round up here on the blog.

This Sunday I plan on taking before pictures (kill me now) to help keep me motivated and as of now I plan to share them alongside my "after" at the end of the 8 weeks. 

For my workouts I plan to stick with my gym classes and add in the workouts the TIU girls provide us with as my AM workouts or days I'm too lazy to drive to the gym.

Riding Outside of My Comfort Zone



Two weeks ago after spin class my instructor announced that he would be hosting a 2 hour ride as a fundraiser for Multiple Myeloma, a cancer that forms in a type of white blood cell called a plasma cell. Without thinking I immediately jumped at the opportunity to sweat for a cause. 



This past Saturday was the ride and although I thought about bailing last minute, I completed my challenge.
The ride was from 2-4pm, so I spent my time before hand mentally preparing myself for two hours in a spin class. There were many times that morning I told myself I couldn't do it and at one point I started to believe it.



Since the ride was held in our small cycling room at the gym I knew it would be warm so I wore my most scandalous Lulu Lemon tanks in hopes of keeping cool.


Around 1:30 I grabbed my shoes, water bottles and Polar FT7 and hit the road.


Thankfully I was able to get "my bike" and got myself situated with more than enough time before our 2pm start. I refused to sit on the bike any longer then I had to so I used my extra time to stretch and foam roll.



Right before the start our instructor handed out bracelets as a Thank You for our donation and participating in the ride. I put mine on immediately and used it as a source of motivation when I started to get tired.



The clock struck 2 and we were off! Before the ride I set three goals for myself:

1. Do it without dying
2. Complete 50 miles
3. Burn over 1,000 calories

Thankfully the majority of the two hour ride went by quickly, but around 3:40pm I started to get antsy. I knew I would physically be able to complete the ride but mentally I had checked out.


And then in what seemed like a flash our instructor announced that it was 4 pm and we were done! However I looked down at my bike and saw 45.5 miles and I was not happy. So everyone else was getting off their bikes and stretching but I kept peddling, I was not letting myself stop with just 5.5 miles left to my 50 mile goal.



It took an additional 9 minutes but I did it!



After all was said and done I was glad I participated in the ride, I even signed up for the next one.
It was a challenge but there is nothing more rewarding then the feeling of crossing the finish line, even if it isn't there ;)

If You Like It Then You Shoulda Put a Sitcker On it...




I have shared my love for my Erin Condren Life Planner here on the blog a few times but I have never told you about my other love, stickers.


Yes, I am a 29 year old woman who loves stickers. I use them for almost everything in my planner and I blame the We Love EC facebook group for this obsession. Although I do not have a collection like many others in the group, I have found myself making several purchases on Etsy over the past few weeks and I wanted to share the love for those of you who may be as sticker obsessed as I am!




I have been following Ms.Wenduhh's blog for awhile now and when I found out she was opening and Etsy shop I knew I would have to place an order. I am always on the hunt for cute telephone stickers as my job involves a lot of calls. I love how tiny these phones are and the pastel colors are perfect for spring!
I am using the envenlopes to mark when I receive a package from a company, my StitchFix boxes (which I have placed on hold for this month) or when I need to send something to someone. Cute reminders = the best reminders!

Another bonus of ordering from Etsy shops is that most, not all, include extras. How cute are those glitter hearts!? Perfect for To-Do check lists!


Next up is my order from Lily Grove Designs. I found this shop when I was searching for pizza stickers. Sunday is date night in our house, we try to make an effort to go to a new restaurant in our area every weekend but more often then not we find ourselves on the couch with pizza binging on Netflix or watching a movie.

The ovals are perfect for marking appointments or layering with other stickers, therefore the purchase is justified.

Last but not least, my order from Hello Ashley Ann. I picked up two sheets of the pastel gym bags after seeing someone else using them on Instagram. My workouts are the one consistent thing I mark in my planner besides work meetings/calls and I am always looking for new stickers to track my calories burned. I plan on using the sneakers to mark my workouts as well. It may seem like I have more than enough stickers for my classes at this point but I am in the gym 6 days a week, these little babies will be gone before I know it.

And the grocery bags are pretty self explanatory ;)
