Sometimes in life you need to make a last minute decision to pack up your car, grab your dogs and drive 6 hours back home at 2:30 in the morning to spend the weekend at the beach with your best friends because Summer is ending and there are adventures to be had...

Baby S: 20 Weeks!

Before I get into my weekly update I'd like to apologize for the lack of posts this past week. Life got extremely hectic between traveling and a family emergency (all is okay now) but I will be back on track posting 2-4 times a week again.

What fruit/vegetable are you? Mango

Due date:  1/3/16

 15 weeks VS 20 weeks at the Mets games
We are going to one more game this season and I will be 23 weeks at that point. I can't wait to compare these photos again!

How far along:  20 weeks, HALFWAY!!! Every Sunday is a new week for me.

Next appointment:  September 1 for another ultra sound due to the technician struggling to see Molly's kidneys and ankles. I will admit it makes me slightly nervous they couldn't see them but I was assured this is completely normal and I am excited to see baby girl again!

Total weight gain/loss:  5 lbs

 First time I have noticed an actual bump while sitting down and driving. 
Naturally I had to snap a pic!

Exercise: I spent the week at my parents we did lots of low impact workouts. Mom and I went power walking 2 miles almost every morning, and I noticed I am somewhat slower these days and my heart rate increases much easier. I also swam laps in the pool and went on bike rides in the country side. Perfect workouts for a relaxing week!

Stretch marks: Nope!

Sleep: I was at my parents’ house for the week and slept easily through the night outside of my trips to the bathroom.

Food cravings:  No new cravings this week

Food aversions:  Same old, plain chicken and BBQ smell

Symptoms: Constantly peeing, my goodness I have never spent so much time going to the bathroom in my life. Also I have had some random bouts of heartburn but nothing too serious, hoping it stays that way.

Movement: YES! Molly has become quite the little wiggle worm towards the end of this week, now that she is getting bigger I feel her much more often mostly at night when I am laying in bed or if I make any sudden movements in my sleep she lets me know she’s pissed I woke her.

What I'm looking forward to:  My very first prenatal massage this weekend! I haven’t had a massage since our wedding two years ago so needles to say my body is definitely ready for some rest and relaxation.

Best moment this week:  Spending time with my entire family at the Mets Vs Orioles game. We had such a great night and although it was still hot it was much cooler than the game Eddie and I attended a few weeks ago.

Baby S: 19 Weeks

Sorry for the lack of posts, I am on a mini vacation at my parents house and going away this weekend but I couldn't miss my Baby S update!

Due date:  1/3/16

How far along:  19 weeks, Every Sunday is a new week for me.

Next appointment:  September 1 for another ultra sound, more on that below

Total weight gain/loss:  5 lbs! My doctor said for 19 weeks, 5 days that’s great because most people are up 8-12 lbs by then

Exercise: Long walks were my main form of exercise this week. I am spending the next two weeks in Maryland at my parents and I have a long weekend in Rhode Island in between those so I took it easier on myself/body and prepped for those instead.

Any Baby/Pregnancy-Related Purchases or Gifts? All of my recent Zulily orders for Molly finally came in but otherwise nothing I haven't shared before!

Sleep: Back to waking up several times during the night but this week it was solely to go to the bathroom. I was up 4-5 times every night, TORTURE!

Food cravings:  Cole slaw, hummus and potatoes.  
Fun fact: I haven’t eaten hummus in 2 or 3 years until this week and now it’s a constant staple in my diet.

Food aversions:  Same old, plain chicken and BBQ smell

Symptoms: Round ligament pain started this week along with lower back pain on and off, fun times.

Movement:  At the ultrasound the tech confirmed what I have been thinking, I have an anterior placenta, which is very common but can cushion any sort of movement I may feel. My doctor also told me at my appointment that it’s completely normal for first time moms to not feel much at this point but by my next appointment when I am 23-24 weeks I should be feeling her a lot more. She also said it’s still early on and Molly’s small so that’s also why I only feel a few kicks/jabs here and there.

What I'm looking forward to:  Spending the next week at my parents house for a mini vacation with Eddie and going to Rhode Island for a girlie bachelorette weekend!

Best moment this week:  Our ultrasound appointment! We spent an entire hour just looking at our little Molly Rae and it was incredible. I haven’t had an ultrasound since 10 weeks so SO much changed over that time. Unfortunately little Molly is stubborn like her momma and wasn’t moving around enough into positions where the tech could see everything ( even after me jogging and doing jumping jacks in the office)  I have to go back in 3 weeks so they can see her kidneys, ankles and the umbilical cord attachment. When I first heard this it definitely make me worry a bit, especially about the UC but my doctor assured me if they thought something was wrong they wouldn’t wait three weeks to bring me back. She said sometimes it’s easier to see everything when they’re a little bigger. We did find out that Molly has a strong heartbeat (150 BPM) and already loves sucking her thumb!

Food Truck Fun

A few weeks ago our apartment complex started hosting a "Food Truck Night" on Wednesdays from 5:30-8pm. They hire 4 or 5 popular food trucks from the DC/ Alexandria area and there is always an eclectic variety.

The first time they had it I wasn't really a fan of the options so I passed but last night there were a few that sparked my interest and I decided to take the dogs on their night time walk while picking up some dinner.

Unfortunately, Wednesday is the one night Eddie isn't around for dinner so I went alone but got something for him to enjoy as a late night, post-work treat. Both of us had our hearts set on Ada's kitchen: Chicken strips & mac and cheese please! However the line was so long that by the time I was the third person from the front they sold out of both.

I ended up going for the Mexican option which was South meets East. Eddie opted for three beef tacos while I got the vegetarian burrito bowl and we both got a homemade cherry limeade.

Beef Tacos: Barbacoa, pickled onion and cabbage, red radish and sriracha crema 
The tacos were a huge hit for Mr. Ed. He said he wasn't sure how he would like it because of the pickled cabbage, but he was pleasantly surprised once he ate them

Vegetarian Burrito Bowl:  Avocado, black bean corn salsa, lime crema, cilantro over steamed jasmine rice

In a word... Amazing. The lime crema really tied in all of the fresh ingredients and flavors. I was really surprised at the size of the dish and couldn't finish it all so I am so excited to have left overs for lunch today!

I hope our complex continues to host food truck night through the fall, it was a great way to meet some neighbors, try foods I wouldn't usually have access to and support local businesses.

Online Shopping Addict

I have mentioned in a few posts lately that I am OBSESSED with Zulily. It's become such an issue that I have had to turn off their daily email notifications. I guess that's what happens when you place 4 orders in three days.

Yesterday afternoon three of the four orders finally arrived and like a giddy school girl I couldn't wait to tear into my packages.

The first package I opened was all for Molly and to be fair, the four onesies on the bottom came as set for $10!

The dinosaurs, also a set, I posted in my 16 week update a few weeks ago and those were at Eddie's request, I mean how could we resist!?

Package 2 was a bunch of maternity clothes for me!
I ordered myself two dresses for upcoming events.

I look fabulous don't I? The joys of working from home.

This dress I picked up for a rehearsal dinner for an upcoming wedding, it looks black but it's actually navy and not only do I love the fit of it it is so comfortable.

Every girl needs a little black dress, am I right?
I got this specifically for a bachelorette party I am going to next weekend but after trying it on I realized it will work for the rehearsal dinner in September as well. Yay, options!
I'm not sure if I'll wear it next weekend but I am definitely packing it, just in case.

What's great about both dresses is neither of them scream "maternity clothes" so I can re-wear them next summer, another win!

Since I work from home I live in sweats, pjs and my workout gear. However I needed a few new pieces I could wear comfortbaly while working at home but also can go out in public to walk the dogs or run errands. 
What does one do in this situation?

Orders gauchos.
Yes I am aware they are not considered cool in the fashion world anymore but I don't care they are comfortable and functional.

And lastly I picked up another pair of workout pants because I am finding myself doing laundry every other day just to clean the few pairs of maternity pants I currently have. Out of everything I purchased these are my least favorite mostly because of the material but they will serve their purpose over the next four months I'm sure.

I am still waiting for two more pieces for Molly to arrive but don't worry I'll share them as soon as they come so you're not falling off of the edge of your seat.

Baby S: 18 Weeks

Due date:  1/3/16

How far along:  18 weeks, Every Sunday is a new week for me.

Next appointment:  August 13th is my 20 week ultrasound the hospital I am going to be delivering at (That was weird to type) and August 14th is my 20 week OB appointment because I will be out of town the following week so having it 2 days early wasn’t a problem according to my doctor.

Total weight gain/loss:  As of now nothing. By August 14th I am sure that will change.

Exercise: I made it to two Tabata classes in addition to my daily walks. Still haven’t hit my weekly 4 class goal but this will be a lot easier come September as August is the busiest month we’ve had so far.

Stretch marks: Not yet

Any Baby/Pregnancy-Related Purchases or Gifts? My aunt and uncle sent us the most adorable bathrobe for Molly. It was a total surprise and I was so excited when I opened the package. Eddie and I sat on the couch talking about how we can’t believe our daughter is going to be wearing this in a few short months. It just doesn’t seem real.

Sleep:  Best week of sleep yet! I ordered some Earth Mama, Angel Baby Peaceful Tea from Amazon earlier in the week as a replacement for my sleepy time tea I drank pre-pregnancy and I swear it has helped me not only relax but sleep much deeper. I have made it a little ritual to climb into bed, read one of my books while sipping this tea every night and it is quickly becoming my favorite part of the day.

Food cravings:  Honeycrisp apples or apple slices,Potatoes either mashed or as fries, crunchy snacks like pretzels or crunchy chocolate cookies (Trader Joe’s Cat Cookies are my favorite)

Food aversions:  Red Meat, BBQ, Raw/Plain Chicken aka same old thing

Symptoms:  Hormonal anxiety- This is something I have always had when it came to PMS and I dealt with a lot in the first trimester. For some reason it came back in full swing the earlier part of this week and stayed for 2-3 days. Thankfully I know the cause of it and can usually self soothe/talk myself out of it but hormonal anxiety is by far my least favorite symptom to date.

Nesting BIG time. I cannot seem to get anything clean or organized enough these days and Eddie is ready to kill me I’m sure haha. I just find myself looking around and wanting everything GONE, I spent one morning reorganizing our guest room/office and threw away so many things, it felt amazing. I also want to go through my closet put everything that doesn’t fit into boxes, toss out most of my shoes (they are never worn) and start over. Oy!

Movement:  I am still not 100% sure but I think I have been feeling little kicks/jabs/flutters. I am hoping to talk to the ultrasound tech about this next week.


What I'm looking forward to:  My anatomy scan and my 20 week OB appointment next week. I cannot believe I am almost halfway through my pregnancy already!  I cannot wait to meet our little girl in January.

Best moment this week:  Max wanted to climb into Molly's crib and he spent a decent amount of time napping in there while I folded laundry and then later in the week I found him curled up in my Snoogle which I had taken out of our room because I was heading out of town for the night and I can't leave home without it!

5 Friday Favorites #3

I can't believe the first week in August has already come and gone, time truly is flying. Lets see what I've been loving this past week.

1. Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp

As I mentioned on Monday my weekend consisted of starting and finishing the new Netflix series. I have been a big fan of the movie since it first came out and wasn't sure how I would feel about the show but I am happy to report it exceeded all of my expectations!

2. Healthy Mama Protein Drinks

These have become my go-to right after my workouts this week. I have packed a little lunch box to leave in the car with a Healthy Mama drink chilling on ice while I sweat my booty off in the gym. They just announced on Instagram that they now have an Amazon shop and when I checked it out this morning I discovered they not only have the Mango with Ginger but a Pom Cherry flavor that I think I have to try next!

Did you know that August 10th is National S'mores Day?! 
Did you also know that I am a S'mores addict?
Well I have big plans this weekend to make this delicious recipe in celebration of such a wonderful day, you may want to do the same.

4.  Pretty Little Liars, Hanna's Prom Look

Everything about Hanna's look, outside of the shoe choice, on this past Tuesdays episode made me swoon. I think my favorite part of her appearance was her hair which I just couldn't find a picture to do it proper justice.

5. Locked Away

This song has been on repeat in the car this week. It may be because my beloved Adam Levine is on it but I can't think of a better way to kick off the weekend other than rolling down the windows, turning up this jam and singing at the top of your lungs.

Baby S: 17 Weeks

I completely failed this week and didn't take an official 17 week comparison photo so these pre-workout pictures will have to do!

How far along:  17 weeks, Every Sunday is a new week for me.

Next appointment:  August 13th is my 20 week ultrasound the hospital I am going to be delivering at (That was weird to type) and August 14th is my 20 week OB appointment because I will be out of town the following week so having it 2 days early wasn’t a problem according to my doctor.

Total weight gain/loss:  As of now nothing. By August 14th I am sure that will change.

Exercise:  As I have mentioned making it to 4 classes a week is my current goal, come fall when my Spin instructor adds 2 of his classes back that will change. This week I made it to all 3 Tabata classes but spin on Thursday didn’t happen due to not feeling well all day. Working out is important but listening to my body is even more important right now. I also take 3-4 30 minute walks with the dogs every day.
  I am currently in the market for a great at home Prenatal Yoga DVD. I think this would be something to add into my current routine/days I don’t want to go to the gym in the colder months. I don’t want to go to a Yoga studio because they are pricey and I already spend enough on a gym membership, so if you have any suggestions please send them my way!

Maternity clothes:  I picked up another pair of my new favorite workout pants from Target. They are grey which I tend to steer clear of because I sweat entirely too much that I get embarrassed when it looks like I peed my pants BUT they were on clearance so I couldn’t resist.

Any Baby/Pregnancy-Related Purchases?  Oh Zulily, you are becoming increasingly dangerous for me. I ordered 4 different onesies over the span of two days. But how can I resist the cuteness!?

 Eddie LOVES dinosaurs and I had pictured making an entire dino-nursery if we were having a boy but alas we are not so these onesies will have to do.

 When I saw this I couldn't resist! Hopefully Max will love it on Molly as much as I love it now.

 Given the amount of burpees we do in a single Tabata class (don't worry I've stopped them for the rest of this pregnancy!)  I knew I had to buy this one.

Sleep:  I cannot believe I am about to say this but I slept through the night every single night this week. My head hit the pillow at 10-10:30 and I was out cold until 6-6:30 the next morning.  HALLELUJAH!

Food cravings:  Ice cream- BIG TIME. This hot weather has got to go.

Food aversions:  Same old, raw/grilled chicken and the smell of BBQ or charcoal

Symptoms:  Constant thirst. I cannot drink enough ice cold water these days! Eddie and I signed up for an at home water delivery service back in January as we cannot fit a water filter on our kitchen sink and originally we thought 2-5 gallon jugs would be enough for us for the month. Well I just set up our August delivery and we’re up to 5-5 gallon jugs. I finished 3 in a little over a week and a half!

                    Hunger. I feel like I spent most of this week eating! All of a sudden I find myself starving every 2 hours which is a first but according to my “What to Expect App” that is a common symptom for this week as this is the time the baby starts doubling in size. So in that case, BRING ON THE BOTTOMLESS PIT FEELINGS

Movement:  YES! I felt her for sure the first time on Friday. It’s not constant yet but I feel her after I eat or when I lay on my left side. She has so much room still that I think it will be awhile before I feel any consistent rolls/kicks but I’ll take what I have for now.


What I'm looking forward to:  Shopping this weekend for more pieces for the nursery.
