Spring Into Your Summer Body (Workout)

Happy Tuesday!
I cannot believe that today is the last day of March already, time is flying.
The weather here in Virginia has been in the 60s and 70s since we returned from Jamaica, outside of a cold burst this past Saturday but we won't talk about that, and we are L-O-V-I-N-G it.

Last night our Tabata teacher announced that our class will be moving outside by the second week in April and I cannot wait, I've only had the opportunity to take the class on the rooftop when I first found the gym back in October but it made the workout so much more fun.

Speaking of Tabata last nights class was intense. Every time we walk in to the room I am not sure what to expect because no two classes are the same.

The great thing about Tabata workouts are they can be done anywhere, at anytime, with weights or without. With that being said, I wanted to share what we did last night and if you guys are interested I can share these workouts on here more often.

Don't forget to Pin it!

For this workout, and all of my Tabata classes I use 12 lb dumbbells but you can use heavier/lighter or no weight at all. I was able to do every move with the class except for the alternating weighted lunges (I did deadlifts), so if you need to make any modifications to the moves listed please feel free to do what works best for you.

If you try this workout share your sweaty picture with me on Instagram or Twitter using the #JustKeepSweating hashtag or post it on my Facebook wall, I love seeing your workout pictures.

Jamaica Mon!

In an effort to get back on track with blogging (for the millionth time) I wanted to share some photos from our recent trip to Jamaica for my sisters wedding. It was the BEST time I've ever had in my life, being surrounded by friends and family for 6 days on a beautiful island is something everyone needs to experience at least once in their life. As someone who shys away from almost all travel due to a huge fear of flying I am so grateful that I was able to be a part of such an amazing vacation.

Nothing Changes If Nothing Changes

This Friday is my 29th birthday.
My last year in my 20s.

I can't deny that it has me a little freaked out because 30 has always sounded "old" to me. I know, I know it's not old but it is a scary number in my head.

I'd be lying to myself and to you if I said I wasn't feel less than stellar about myself right now. Since surgery last June (which sounds so long ago now) and moving in September I have gained a few pounds...12 to be exact, and It's the first time I have gained weight and kept it on since starting my weight loss journey 5 years ago.

In addition to surgery/moving I had a terrible experience with a doctor here back in December that has been in the back of my mind ever since. The short story was he told me he was unhappy with my weight and asked me if I had ever considered diet pills, without going over any of mine or my family's history.

All of these things have been weighing (no pun intended) on me these last few months and yet I haven't done anything about it. I am still working out just as much and just as hard as I was in NY, but my workouts are different: I spin, box, and take Tabata 2x a week VS high cardio kickboxing 4x a week in addition to lifting.
I am still finding myself here in VA and it's proven to be more of a challenge then I had originally anticipated.

Two weeks ago Eddie bought a scale. I have always said I hate scales because it's very easy to become number obsessed and they are not the end all, be all of weight loss/gain. Muscle weighs more then fat but I haven't lifted heavy since November, so that number I see is fat outweighing muscle. That being said it's time for a change.

I am determined to start over and what better way then with a birthday? For starters Eddie upgraded my HRM, I've been using a Polar FT4 since 2009 and while I love it I needed something more.

I can't wait to break in my new FT7 tonight at the gym! The features aren't that different from the FT4 but I like that it measures the % of fat burn during your workouts and has the option for online tracking if I wanted to do that in the future.

This morning I woke up and bit the bullet, I bought myself the 21 Day Fix. You may remember me talking about doing this back in January but I wasn't going to buy it because " I hate diets," which I still do BUT my best friend is on her second round of the 21DF and loves it so I figured it's time for me to stop making excuses and try it. It will be here tomorrow and I am going to follow it for the most part until we leave for Jamaica next Friday, outside of celebrating my birthday this Saturday night. After our trip, all bets are off and I am going for the gold.

If you've done the 21 Day Fix, let me know your experience below!

I am determined to make 29 my best year yet.
Don't believe me just watch!
