Sweat Today, Smile Tomorrow

 
 
 
I haven't been in this great of a mood in a long time.
The weather is warmer which is making everything THAT much more enjoyable.
 
Including killer gym workouts at 5 am.
 
YES I made it there this morning for arms & abs, thanks to this:
 and a text from my friend & 3 year jump and drill partner saying
"GET UP, LETS GO GET SKINNY"
 
 
We laughed through the first class not because it was easy but because we were having fun.
If you hate your time spent in the gym/working out---STOP IT RIGHT NOW.
 
The biggest source of my motivation for the gym is the love I have for the classes I take, and the teachers that teach them. Having my friends and family in those classes is just an added bonus.
We all suffer together.
When one of us wants to quit...usually me[not kidding] the others pick us up.
It's a beautiful thing.
 
But even if I didn't have the support group that I do have in my gym, I would still go, because I LOVE it there that much.
 
"YOU HAVE TO BE IN LOVE WITH YOUR
 WORKOUTS IN ORDER TO HAVE SUCCESS."
 
I should make that a pinnable image.
 
 
After 75 minutes of hard work I was happy to see that I burned 730 calories, while having fun.
 
As I was just typing this post my tooth cracked...I am rushing to the dentist now--no time to finish!

Red Velvet Protein Pancakes





Morning!

I made these Monday then again on Tuesday and decided it wouldn't be nice of me if I didn't share them with my favorite people in the world...you!


Ingredients:
1 scoop of your favorite chocolate protein powder
A handful of sliced strawberries
1/4 cup + 3 T egg whites
2 T Fat free cottage cheese
Laughing Cow [topping, optional]
Place all ingredients in a blender and blend well.

I made these with and without blending the ingredients and found a smooth batter works/tastes better.
 Cook the pancake in a small frying pan, this helps it keep its shape, in coconut oil.

Top with one wedge of light laughing cow cheese [cream cheese frosting!] and more strawberries.

235 calories for 39g of protein? I'll take it!
 I'm off to the gym for some kickboxing before work and then I have my first florist appointment tonight. Busy Bee as always.

Meal Prep & Oscar Sunday





I usually recap my weekends on Mondays, but Saturday was a complete wash for me due to partying a little too hard on Friday, so we will just recap Sunday today.


As soon as I woke up I got dressed and hit the gym, literally within 10 minutes of waking. I was determined to get a good workout in after failing so miserably Saturday [ and most of last week]
I was still not feeling my best, 2 day hangovers are a bitch for lack of a better term, but I got through it.

After the gym I did some shopping, food and otherwise.
Somehow these two polishes ended up coming home with me.

Then it was food prep time!
I really wanted eggplant rollatini Saturday night which is such an odd craving but instead I went for roasted eggplant for lunches this week. Much healthier and lighter.



I seasoned the chicken breasts with a combination of two different perfect pinch flavors: garlic & herb and rotisserie chicken. I love those seasonings they make everything taste so delicious and have no added salt.

A few hours later it was time to prepare for the Oscars! Mom and I liked to make/have munchies for the awards shows and last night we decided to keep it clean and healthy, her suggestion, not mine.

Celery with laughing cow; homemade guacamole; cucumber slices with dill & Chobani dip; endive with lobster salad.

The show itself was kind of...boring.  We predicted the winners for each category before the show and they all ended up winning! I think we gave them an extra edge ;)

Favorite Moment: Three-way tie- Les Mis cast singing live, Ben Affleck's acceptance speech and BARBRA!



All in all it was a great Sunday and I feel ready to take this week by the reigns and kick it's booty.

Sweat At Home With Fitness Glo





I love my gym.
I live in my gym.
It's my home, my getaway, my therapy all in one.

But there are days I don't feel like going to the gym, just to sweat.
It happens to all of us.

DVDs are an option but they get old/stale after a few times through.
Now what?

I used this website a few times, most of the time it was to squeeze in a quick pre-work workout. I used the highest level-Good to Glo. It definitely wasn't the same heart pumping, sweat session I get in my fitness classes at my gym but it definitely got my heart rate up and kept my interest.



My favorite part about the service is the ability to schedule your workouts. Every gym has a class schedule but you may not be able to make the classes you want all of the time, with FitnessGlo you take the classes you want when you want them.


I would recommend this service to anyone. It's perfect for beginners, and fitness pros. Stay at home moms and workaholics.

I really have become the worst blogger, I am so sorry for being so MIA!
 
I didn't even do my Biggest Loser recap post yesterday-- lets just say I still want Gina and Jeff off of the ranch, cannot stand them. This season is chock full of whiners and it's making me crazy.
 
You said it Sweet Brown.
 
 
 
Last night after work I had a very special date so I picked up not one but two bottles of red wine.
The Apothic Red is a long time favorite of mine but the Cupcake Red Velvet was new to me. I actually tried it after watching Truly Jess rave about it in her vlogs. It is now a new favorite for me!
 
Becky made a delicious dinner that she found on Pinterest.
Brown butter whole wheat pasta anyone?
I already have plans for turning this into a cold pasta salad for the summer---stay tuned.
 
 
The two of us ate and drank, while chatting and laughing until almost 10 pm.
I can't think of a better way to spend a Tuesday night, can you?
 
 
 
This morning I was off to my favorite workout.
Can you guess what it was?
If you said kickboxing you are correct!
 
 
 

I love that class!
 
 
I am toying with the idea of going back tonight for Shakin it [a really fun dance class] or Yoga, I guess I'll see where the day takes me and fill you in on that tomorrow!

Sad It's Over




I hate when the weekends are over, especially when they are great ones, like this past weekend was.

I came home from work on Friday to this:

2 dozen long stemmed pink roses and a customized Tervis tumbler from Eddie for Valentine's Day.
He's the best!
We both were very undecided about dinner, neither one of us felt like going to a restaurant but we didn't want to cook either, which made things pretty difficult.
We ended up wandering around the food store and decided on salsa, guacamole and chips with skinny girl margaritas on the side.

Perfect end to a great first week at work.

Saturday


Hit the gym for my 2 hour workout.
Ended up making it through 90 minutes. My body was still sore and tired from all of the workouts during the week, especially my two-a-day on Thursday + I landed the wrong way during a jump knee kick in jump & drill so my knee was pissed.

I left the gym feeling pretty defeated but reminded myself that not every workout can be the best, and I still got a great burn/sweat session in while most other people were sleeping/hungover/working.



The rest of the day was a lazy day for us. Mom, Eddie and I watched Silver Linings Playbook on bootleg [we're hardcore] and all of us loved it, I definitely recommend checking it out.
Then it was date night for Mr.Ed and I.

 We went to my favorite burger place[now Eddie's as well] and then for dessert we shopped at Target!
Yep, I said it, Target.
2 years in a row I failed at lent, ohhh well.
This was the main reason I wanted to go to Target, in addition to the fact that I love that place and I was so happy to pick up the last one!

We were going to go play pool after we shopped but we came home and watched 21 Jump Street instead. I'm not sure how we went all this time without seeing that movie, it is so funny. I was crying from laughing so hard, it's been awhile since any movie has been able to do that!

Sunday

 MUCH better workout! I felt strong the entire time and left feeling happy.
After the gym Eddie and I went to Bed Bath & Beyond to finish up our registry there then food shop. We decided to make an Indian dish for dinner, Tandoori chicken, which I had never heard of but Eddie suggested it so I said why not?

 This is the recipe he followed and it came out great.
I was in charge of the veggies, mostly to make sure we had them ;) so I went with mushrooms and spinach and added some of the masala sauce that was used in the chicken to tie the flavors together.

It was a hit. We both were satisfied and overly stuffed by the end of our meal.
But not too stuffed for FRO-YO!
    I got a little too excited and went HAM on the toppings.
But I assure you none of it went to waste.
We ate our fro-yo while watching The Office bloopers on YouTube, again I highly recommend it if you're looking to laugh until you cry.

So now can you see why I am sad this weekend is over?

Favorite Outfit Idea: I love wearing black, white and hot pink together. This outfit is one I have in my closet, just the stripes on my skirt are horizontal!


Favorite Cocktail: I woke up this morning and Instagram was filled with Mexican meals from Valentine's Dinner dates. I instantly started craving a margarita.

Favorite Makeup: I am 100% obsessed with the new Revlon Nearly Naked pressed powder. I went to 3 different stores on Sunday to find it and I am so happy I was able to get my paws on it. I am using the shade FAIR right now but will switch to medium when summer rolls around.

Favorite Shoes: I LOVE these boat shoes from Old Navy! I picked up the beige last weekend [same day as the powder, yes I am broke] but I have a feeling the pink and a few printed pairs will be added to my wardrobe.The best part? They're only $22!
