Can't Sleep? Workout Instead.

Thank you for all of your well wishes and congratulations on yesterdays post, I am truly blessed to have all of you in my life!!

This week my body and I are having some issues with one another.
Monday morning it woke me up at 3:45 am. I tossed and turned until I couldn't take it anymore and got out of bed at 5 to workout with Fitness Glo.

Tuesday I was up by 5:30 am.
Wednesday I couldn't wake up to save my life which resulted in me missing 5 am boot camp.
This morning I was up at 4:30 am for no reason yet again.

I swear I have the worst sleep patterns out of anyone I know and lucky for me I am one of those "once I am up, I'm up" people so there is no hope for passing back out at these horrendous times.
Without fail I am passed out before 9:30 every night, last night I was falling asleep on the phone with Eddie...just ask him he'll tell you.
I am at a loss of what to do. I have just over a week to get myself on a new sleep schedule because I don't have to leave my house until after 9 am when I start my new job, which is 2 hours later then I leave now.

Anywayyyyy back to this morning.
I laid in bed cuddled up to the pups but decided by 5 am I might as well make the best of this obnoxious wake up time and workout.

I considered going to the gym but it was thunder storming and I knew the dogs would go upstairs and wake my parents with their storm anxiety so I figured I'd do an at home sweat session with Tone It Up.

I tackled the "love your arms" routine 3x then followed it up with 2 rounds of the love your legs.
I must say having an Apple TV is the greatest thing in the world, YouTube workouts right in my bedroom WHAT WHAT!

I felt better about my sleep schedule once the workout was over.

These two have no issues going back to sleep no matter what the situation is.

I'll be heading to el gym-o this evening for my favorite class of the week.
Can anyone guess what it is?

If you said Kickboxing YOU'RE RIGHT!
You go Glen Coco!

PS I am loving the new app VINE[more on that tomorrow in Friday Favorites] but I shot this little video this am while waiting for my train, which was delayed due to severe weather.

Taking Chances- My New Career!

Some big changes are happening in my life this week.
After 5 years I am leaving the company I have worked for since I was in college.
I am leaving the television industry I was so eager to be a part of 6 years ago.

Originally my plan was to work in production, however I was completely unaware of how difficult finding a job would be.

I started off as a Master Control Operator, sounds intense right?
The position required me to sit and watch TV for 8 hours straight.
It was awful.

I then transitioned into an Associate Director position where I would check the logs for air, basically making sure the commercials matched the play list and graphics/ratings were correct for the show.
Again, it wasn't what I wanted to be doing so I decided if I was going to "make it" in this industry I needed to get myself into NYC.

I accepted a position as an Ad Sales coordinator in November 2010 for Wedding Central, a sister channel for WEtv. It was a risk taking this job because it meant going from full time status to a temp, even though I was working 8 hours a day and commuting 90 minutes both ways.
My father worked in the city for USA Networks for over 25 years and he was the reason I got into this industry to begin with. He always said to me, "You have to be in the city." So I took a leap of faith, and a pay cut, and started this job.

The channel went under 6 months later.
Fortunately WEtv had a position open in the same department and they moved me there.
Where I have been for almost 2 years.

The job itself is not my dream, not even in the slightest.
I do it because it pays my bills.
I dread my commute every single day.

I have been trying to get out of this job, out of the city for almost a year.
Interview after interview I was always the "runner up" for the various positions I applied for.

Fast forward to last Friday.
I was sitting on the couch at home, drained from another long week of working/gymming/commuting applying for jobs on Craig's List and came across one for Social Media Director close to my home.

I applied on the spot and surprisingly received a response Saturday morning asking if I could come in for an interview that afternoon.
I interviewed and accepted the position that night.

My commute is going from 90 minutes to 6.
My hours are 9:30- 5:30 with flexibility around my class schedule [HUGE HUGE HUGE plus]
My new boss is AMAZING from what I know so far.
The company is for Women's vitamins and supplements.
I will be working in Social Media!

I have not been this happy about working in a long time.
Everything that has happened since Saturday proves to me that I have made the right decision and I can't wait to start on February 11th :)

Weigh In: Biggest Loser Week 5

Week 5 on the Biggest Loser ranch seemed to be the most negative episode to date.
The biggest source of negativity?
Bob Harper and the blue team.

All they said throughout the entire episode was how they were set up for failure in the weigh in.
Bob told that them as well which seemed so "un-Bob" like to me. I was really frustrated with all their attitudes and disappointing in the constant whining from the contestants.

This was probably one of my favorite moments of the episode.
Bob was screaming at his team to squat when they were all on the brink of giving up.
Gotta love internet memes.

This week the contestants were challenged to eat healthy on a budget.
$10 a day to be exact.
Every single contestant looked as if the rug had been pulled out from underneath them when they heard that. I was so happy to see the show prove that eating healthy ISN'T expensive.
To quote my beloved Dani " Processed foods are cheaper, but you have to look at what you're putting in your body.It outweighs the costs." She ended up spending only $61 of the $70 and was shocked at how much she was able to get.

They also received a cooking lesson from Devin, the author of the Biggest Loser cookbooks and I loved what she said to all of them:
"20 minutes in the kitchen can save you 3 hours in the gym."
Not only do I love this, but it is SO true!
Then she took it one step further and showed them how to make a loaded sweet potato for a lunch.

The workout challenge for this week was called "Coins in the fountain" and was all about swimming.
The contestants had to swim with 5 lb "coins" and place them in the bank. The winning team was awarded 10 one year memberships to Planet Fitness [show sponsor] and the choice of a phone call home or 2 lb advantage.

I was SO happy Dani kicked major booty and won! That girl is just unstoppable. She's the last woman standing on the white team since Pam was voted off last week so I am pulling for her to keep going and make it until the very end.

The saddest moment of the week goes to David and exposing his demons. He finally broke down and told Bob why he gained the weight in the first place. Not only is he a father of 7 but his oldest daughter has Ret's disease. He puts all of the pressure to care for his family especially his daughter that it turned into extreme weight gain.

Lets just say the tears were flowing during this part of the episode.

Andddddd we said goodbye to one more contestant[obviously] I wasn't too upset with who went home. Not because they deserved it but I felt they were strong enough to do this on their own.
Which was proved when they showed the update!

Your turn:
What did you think of last nights episode?
Happy with who went home?

Ranch Chips-Heart Project-New Workout

Good morning and Happy Monday!
Yes, I said Happy Monday...don't hate me okay?

Before I get into my post for today I need to give a shout out to my friend Brian aka Pavement Runner for being one of the nicest people I have ever met, even if it's only been virtually.
This MUST change.

Mr. Pavement Runner reached out to a bunch of bloggers last week to gather pictures for the We Heart You project. Our friend family member Krsyten[ Darwinian Fail] is having "robot heart" surgery this week and he wanted to send her some extra love from all of us.
I told you he was the nicest person.
The post went live this morning and I must admit I cried. I am so thankful he included me and if I was able to contribute some extra love/happiness to Krystens day.

This morning I was up by 4 am for absolutely no reason other then things were on my mind. I'll tell ya this brain of mine never shuts off. I didn't feel like driving myself to the gym this morning so I decided to try out Fitness Glo which is a website full of workout videos for all levels and had both strength training and cardio to choose from.

I went with a 45 minute cardio video on the hardest level the website offers.

I ended up modifying a lot of the moves to make them more intense because the pace of the workout was much slower then I am used to.

After 30 minutes I called it quits and got ready for work
Not a bad burn for 5 am on a Monday morning right?

The good thing about this particular workout is it introduced me to a few new moves which is always good. I will be trying a few more of these videos out before giving a full review+ GIVEAWAY on the service so stay tuned for that!

I did my Sunday meal prep yesterday and I have to say I am really looking forward to my lunches this week.

Mini buffalo chicken meatloaves, adapted from this Iowa Girl Eats recipe with roasted brussels and ranch sweet potato "chips" as a side.

What's that you say?
You want the recipe for the chips?

Okay, okay here it is.

1 sweet potato
1/4 packet of ranch dip mix
Coconut Oil

Using a mandolin or a really sharp knife cut the sweet potato into thin slices.
Drizzle coconut oil on top then sprinkle ranch dip mix on top of that.
Bake at 400 for 15-20 minutes then broil on HI for 5 minutes.

Easy and delicious.

Tonight is the Biggest Loser! Who else is excited?
Who do you think is going home?

I hope it's Jeff.

Tune in tomorrow for my recap of tonights episode--- NO SPOILERS of who is voted off the ranch, I promise.

Friday Favorites: Week of 1/21

Before hopping into the favorites for this week I just want to let you know how much I appreciate you.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my little corner of the internet, whether you are here everyday-once a week- just stopping by for the first time you are a part of my life. Sending you a BIG virtual hug today :)

Favorite App: I cannot tell you how much I LOVE Songza

First of all it is a 100% FREE music app. It allows you to pick a playlist based on the time of day and mood you are in. You are able to save your favorite playlists, search for specific genres and make your own lists to share with others.
There are NO adds like Pandora has but you can only skip 5 songs per hour, which I have rarely done since I have started using this app. They also have a website if you cannot access the app on your phone.

Favorite Jam: While we are talking about music I should mention the song I have been playing on repeat[literally] all day everyday.

If you follow me on instagram you will know this already but my favorite song right now is Thrift Shop by Macklemore ft Wanz.
YOU MUST DOWNLOAD/YOUTUBE this song asap. It will put you in a great mood from the beat alone.
....I just hit play for the 5th time this morning....

Favorite Appetizer: Iowa Girl Eats does it AGAIN with this Feta-stuffed buffalo chicken meatballs recipe.

This is now on the list for meal prep Sunday to have for 2 of my lunches for next week.
I'm thinking of having them over a salad OR on 100 calorie bread as a "hero"
Either way save this recipe!

Favorite Sweat: I don't have a photo or video of this but it was a move we did during brutal camp Wednesday morning.

Take a body bar, whatever weight you want to use...I went with 18 lbs and regretted it all day yesterday and do jumping jacks with it for thirty seconds.

 Happy Sweating!

Favorite Mani: With Superbowl coming up I figured this was only appropriate.

Even if you aren't a football enthusiast or you're bummed because your team didn't make it to the Superbowl this is a fun way to get into the game day spirit :)

Favorite Purchase: Have you ever had too much time on your hands to surf the Internet and then found yourself needing almost every unnecessary thing you come across?

Me neither.
This past Saturday I was getting myself sucked into yet another Internet vortex and somehow ended up on I honestly have no idea how I ended up on this website but on the homepage it had NOW INTRODUCING THE SHOUT! CASE. And I said to myself, I must have this.
I spent way too much time designing a case featuring family and friends [like over an hour] and then without thinking hit purchase.
It arrived yesterday and I have never been happier with a phone case.
I have yet to decide if this makes me pathetic or not.

Favorite Adult Drink: If you invite me to a BBQ/party this summer this is what I will be bringing
Strawberry Margarita Jello Shots

Favorite Salsa: Yeaaaa I said it. This salsa gets its very own category today.
I discovered this at Target a few weeks ago and since then I have gone through 4 jars.
It is the best salsa I have ever tasted, outside of anything that involves pineapple+mango.
If you see it pick up a jar then tell me how much you love it too.

Favorite DIY: I know broken mirrors are supposedly bad luck but what if you find it that way? Does it still mean that? I hope not because I really want to make something similar to this for my house.

Favorite Girly Girl Outfit: I don't own anything leopard or animal print but I love this outfit.

The scarf can easily be replaced with anyone that is already in my closet but those pants?

Favorite Quote:

Favorite Superbowl Idea: This is too cute not to share

Football field dip
I think I'll be making this bad boy next weekend.

Favorite Some Ecard: This one probably speaks to most of us this week.

Happy Friday Sweaties!
Stay warm <3>

You Know You're Tired When...

This morning I have a funny little story to share with you guys.
It's not health or fitness related but I thought you may enjoy it....

When I woke up this morning I found myself laying horizontally across my bed rather then vertically.
My head was against the wall and I was using my phone charger as a pillow while my feet were dangling off of the opposite side of the bed.

I have no idea how I maneuvered myself into this position or how long I slept that way but I will say I slept later then I have in awhile and feel even more rested.

Along with that I had a strange dream. It's not often I remember my dreams, I'm not sure why I don't, but last night I did.  So I wanted to share it with you:

Eddie and I got married[YAY!] but immediately after our reception I boarded a plane with my parents to Italy. Apparently this had been a plan for awhile so Eddie wasn't upset with the situation and I just went along with that.
Here is a little fun fact about me that you may not know: I HATE FLYING. I refuse to do it. It terrifies me.
So the fact that I happily boarded a plane to Italy with my parents right after my wedding is weird in itself.
In my dream I slept through the entire flight and when we landed I woke up telling my dad someone must have drugged me at the reception so I would be able to fly. My parents and I were unpacking in the middle of a street in Rome [because that's normal] when I realized I forgot my SLR camera. This really made my dad mad which sent him on a tangent of how unorganized I am and told me I was no longer welcome on the trip with them.

Then I woke up.

Between my odd sleeping position and crazy dream I don't know what was going on in my brain last night but apparently I was having a good time.

Do you have crazy dreams?
Have you ever woken up in a strange sleeping position?

12 Degrees Won't Stop Me From Sweating!

Brrrrrrrr it is freezing here in NY today.
Currently temperatures are holding steady at 17 degrees with a whipping wind it feels like -50.
Okay I am exaggerating but you can tell I did not get a degree in meteorology.

This morning I did something I haven't done in awhile... woke up for 5 am boot camp.
Yes my crazy booty decided to wake up at 4 am on the coldest day of the year to get to the gym.

 See those numbers?
12 DEGREES AT 4:30 AM!!

Boot camp isn't held outdoors so I can't really use the weather as an excuse not to go[I've tried, it doesn't work] but there is something about the freezing bitter cold that makes me not want to get up in the middle of the night to sweat.
Anybody else?

Regardless of the temps I got myself there, and it was probably the hardest class to date.
Even though I am pretty sure I say that every time I take it...

Weapons of choice for this mornings workout:
-Step with 4 risers on each side
-8 lb weights
-Jump Rope
-My Body

Let me tell you something the teacher of this class knows how to push you wayyyyyyyyyyyyy past your comfort zone. I love and hate that about "brutal camp."

This morning I seemed to be one of her favorite people to push.
Lucky me.
We all know how I love Jillian Michaels and her methods of training, but lets just say I may have eaten those words a bit while I was panting + sweating at 5:45 this morning.

I felt great once it was all over, except for my right knee. Two classes on step this week has really pissed it off so I will be spending some time with my FrozenPeaz tonight.
More on that tomorrow...

I even remembered to VLOG!

I ordered a new chest strap for my Polar FT4 HRM because it has been acting up during my workouts. I have tried EVERYTHING under the sun to fix this contraption outside of replacing it [Those things are pricey!] so after researching the next steps I bought this on amazon.

I really really really really hope this solves my problem, I want to share my calorie burns with all of you!
If you have any other suggestions for me to try please let me know!

Right before leaving the house this morning my mom gave me these:

Mustache drink stickers!

Lets just say there was a decent amount of squealing and happy-dancing.

For those wondering, she got them at the dollar spot of Target. Rumor has it there is a mustache sweatshirt there as well... I will be checking into this asap.

Okay enough of my Wednesday ramblings, tell me What is YOUR workout today?

Weigh In:Biggest Loser Week 4

You guysssssssss I totally failed you yesterday and didn't post anything here. I figured between MLK and Inauguration Day no one was going to come over to this neck of the Internet to see what kind of shenanigans I had gotten myself into over the weekend. If you really want to know I can recap it tomorrow, today is all about week 4 of the Biggest Loser.

Did anyone else find themselves on a rollercoaster of emotions this week?
All I did was cry!!

This week the trainers left the ranch to spend time with the teens in their homes.

A few of my favorite moments from the trainers and teens were:
-Bob and Bingo playing baseball. Bingo is going to be one hell of a pitcher someday! I loved seeing him light up on the diamond, seriously brought me to tears.

-Dolvett and Lindsay cheerleading. This made me cry yet again. I just love how motivating and inspiring Dolvett is to not only his team but to Lindsay. Cheerleading is the sport she loves and wants to get back on the team and he put it right there in front of her to remind her that she WILL get there.

- The families are ALL making changes for a healthier lifestyle. This is so important for not only these kids on the show but all children.
 Lead by example.

Back on the ranch.

The challenge this week was running a 5k.
This pushed every single competitor [except for Danni, IMO] outside of their comfort zone and everyone seemed to accept the challenge and tackle it head on.

My girl Danni rocked that 5k and came in 1st! I cried along with her as she crossed that finish line. Then I cried again when she ran along side Pam as she crossed the finish line taking third.
I told you I cried a lot during this episode!

For the last chance workout, and only workout the teams had with the trainers all week, the white and blue team got their sweat on together.

Jillian seemed to redirect her frustrations with Pam to Jeff this week and it was quite the battle.
Again, I agree with Jillian...Jeff IS lazy and doesn't put the max effort into his workouts.
However, he said he doesn't like Jillians negative approach and it causes him to not want to do the work.

Eventually JM became so fed up with Jeff she threw him out of the gym and back to Bob. She said she didn't care anymore about his laziness and Bob called her on it, which I loved, because we all know when someone says they don't care about something it means they care 10x the amount that they show.

On the flip side Jackson from the red team owned this week.
He was the hardest worker and biggest motivator to his entire team, which honestly shocked me.
I pinned him as lazy and full of excuses but it really was medical issues holding him back.
This week he proved himself both inside and outside of the gym and I am now on team Jackson!

Overall I think week 4 has been my favorite to date. If you haven't read my other recaps for the season I'll link them below so you can catch up:

Your turn:
Did you cry during last nights episode?
What was your favorite moment[s]?
How do you feel about who went home?

Friday Favorites-Week of 1/14

It's Friday Friday
I can't believe we made but it's finally Friday!

That is my Rebecca Black- Friday remix. Hope you enjoyed it

This week seemed to drag on and on and on, quite possibly because I knew there was a three day weekend at the end of the rainbow but I cannot confirm that fact.

Another great thing about this long weekend?
I have ZERO plans.
Except making pizza with Eddie tonight[vlog??], filming a Bulubox video tomorrow and the last Sunday Funday of the football season :(

I have a feeling we're going to go out with a bang!

Favorite Sweat:  My boy Bob's deck of cards workout from this weeks BL episode.

I swapped the thrusters for lunges and burpees for bicep curls.

Favorite Appetizer: Meatball bites. This screams Superbowl Sunday

I would make these into mini meatball parm bites and add some mozzarella cheese inside then dip into marinara sauce.
Eddie I know you're reading this so do we add this to our menu?

Favorite Jam: JT is back!

There is a lot mixed emotions surrounding Suit & Tie for fellow Timberlake fans. Some are in love and some think it fell short of their expectations.
What do you think?

Favorite "I wish this really existed" Thing: Starbucks inhaler.
To help with that afternoon slump.

Favorite Boot: OH EM GEE

I don't know if these were a DIY project or if they can be bought somewhere but I am in LOVE.

Favorite Kitchen: I want this to be mine so badly

The exposed brick, the island, the candle chandelier.
I need it all in my future life.

Favorite Website: Fitness Glo This website has become my go-to for at home workouts, because lets face it there are days I don't feel like going to the gym. They offer a variety of "classes" that you can do in the comfort of your own home, at any time.

Favorite Mani: Flowers & Stripes

I love the spring feel this manicure has.
So cute

Favorite Quote:  For everyone who asks HOW I do it...

This sums it up.
I make the time for the gym, it's a priority and everything else in my life comes after it.

Favorite DIY: I love love love love this

Unfortunately there are no directions as to how to recreate this, but I really want to do it for our future home.
I would make this our bar pink, of course.

Favorite Must Have: Stemless mustache wine glasses. Need I say more?

Find me one in pink and lets make memories.

Favorite Some Ecard: Life lessons from a dog

 You heard the card.
It's Friday, don't let anything get you down!
