Body Comparison & Year in Review

New Years Eve is not just a day of partying with your friends and family, but a day of reflection.
I have spent a lot of time thinking about everything I have accomplished in 2012 and wanted to highlight a few.

-Spent a weekend with some of my best blends
-I felt uncomfortable in my own skin
-Worked out at MetLife Stadium
-Started a Racebook [which needs some serious updating]
-Survived a mud run
-Ran the color run
-I tried paddleboarding
-I had an epiphany
-Survived Frankenstorm
-Started a Friday Favorites series

and that isn't even half of my favorite moments!

On 12-31-11 I posted a body comparison from 2010-2011. It's my own way to visually see the changes my body is making even if I don't feel them.

The biggest change is from 2010 to 2012 but I can see a lot of differences between last years photo and this year.

My waist is considerably smaller this year and my hips.
The area around my bra/chest continues to be my biggest trouble area and this year it is my goal to banish all of that extra flub.
No one wants that hanging over their wedding dress!
"The girls" have shrunk--HALLELUJAH

Overall I am happy with how far I have come but I see there is still a long way to go.
I will be increasing my ST this year in addition to 1/2 marathon training and continuing my yoga practice.

2013 is MY year!

The Best Saturday

Before I talk about yesterdays events I need to show you what I am eating while I type this post:

A 2 egg omelette filled with fresh prosciutto, caramelized cheddar cheese and scallions.
Perfect Sunday morning breakfast, I'd love to recreate this for Eddie...with bacon of course ;)

Right after publishing yesterdays post I met up with 3 of my bridesmaids, and their moms. Dress shopping, as expected was easy and they all picked the most beautiful dresses. My sister said it best
"Each of their dresses looks like them" which is exactly what I wanted when I decided every girl will pick their own style and just have the same color.

We were all starving by the time we left the bridal shop--Trying on dresses is hard work! So Becky suggested we have lunch at a new wine and panini restaurant that opened right in town.

Don't I have the most beautiful friends?

We all ordered a round of drinks--pinot grigio for mom and I, mimosas for everyone else.
For lunch I ordered the artisanal panini which was one of the specials.
It had fresh pears, salted onions and brie cheese served with an arugula salad on the side.

Best friends-our moms-wine-paninis
Those are key ingredients to having a great day.

After lunch mom and I popped into one of the local boutiques called Ohh La La!
Something funny happened there....
I tried on a shirt and came out to show how it was a little tight in the boob area when the entire staff proceeded to tell me I had it on backwards.
Too much wine before 2 pm will do that to a girl

I ended up buying this tiffany blue bow necklace that I think would be cute with a plain white shirt and jeans.

After Ohh La La! mom and I popped into the cheese shop because she was having company.
Of course I had to sample from prosciutto and provolone while she made her choices.
It was gooooood.

We came home and I set up the spread for the guests.
All of it was so delicious, I was upset I couldn't stay but I had my own party to get ready for!

For a rainy, cold Saturday night it was a little difficult for me to get myself motivated but once I sat down and did my makeup I was ready to rock n' roll.

Lauren picked me up and we hit the open bar party where we had a blast.
Drinking and laughing with your bestie...perfect end to an already perfect day!

Now I am headed back to where I was last night for my usual Sunday Football Funday with those two girls pictured above.

I hope you are all having a fantastic weekend so far...2013 is right around the corner!

Mustache Mug + New Jacket

Every morning I look forward to my cup [or three] of coffee, but today I was more excited then usual for two reasons:

A new mug AND new coffee!!
I have a slight mug addiction and love buying new ones for my collection.

I saw this flavored coffee via Instagram yesterday and had to have it before it disappeared for the season.
Gingerbread + Toffee=  my dream

I added some warm vanilla almond milk and stevita toffee to make it an official latte.

Lets just say it was heavenly.

After coffee it was sweat time!

I laced up my asics and zipped up my new Adidas jacket courtesy of Becky then hit the gym.
100 push ups
10 minutes jumping rope
ab work
Endless amounts of kicking and punching

Now I am off to do round 2 of bridesmaid dress shopping with my best friends from high school and our moms follow by lunch.
Tonight I am heading to an open bar party to celebrate NYE a few days early.

I'll recap both tomorrow.
Enjoy your Saturday everyone!

Friday Favorites: Last of 2012!

Is it just me or do short work weeks sometimes seem longer?
I feel like my head has been in the clouds these past three days and I cannot get back on schedule.

Thankfully this weekend is another 4 day weekend full of bridesmaid shopping, partying, football and fun.

I can't believe a new year is right around the corner, as cliche as it sounds it feels like 2012 just started. 2013 is my year.

So far I have some big events planned:
-Graduating IIN April
-Running my first 1/2 marathon May 5
-Getting married September 1

Before the new year starts we have one more Friday favorites of 2012 to do!

Favorite Healthy Recipe: Spaghetti Squash Boats from Ari's Menu

Filled with ground turkey [ground chicken for me] and topped with cheese.
This recipe is a winner in my book!
Also gluten free ;)

Favorite Sweat: Itz Lindz posted this circuit yesterday and I already have plans to try it in two weeks when I start my 5 am Tuesday morning workouts again.
#2 and #9 look less then appealing to me, but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger!

Favorite Jam of THE YEAR: I figured it was only appropriate to highlight the song I rocked out to the most this year.

Call Me Maybe was my song for 2012, I spent many days/nights/workouts singing and dancing along to this catchy tune.
It still makes me smile when it comes on the radio...right before I change the station because it's so played out.

Favorite Dive in Head First Without Thinking About Calories Recipe: OR
" A recipe to make for my hubs to be when I really want something" ;]

Bacon Breakfast Bake
Let me set the scene:
Tater tots topped with eggs-scallions-bacon-cheese
Baked until cheesy eggy bacony goodness has formed.

Don't worry Eddie I'll make this for you!

Favorite Time Saving Idea: I cannot tell you how much time I have spent shredded chicken with two forks.

Thanks to I now have a fool proof :30 second option.

Favorite Fitness Gear: Nike Pro Hyperwarm Hybrid Top

With 1/2 marathon training starting in just a little over a month this top is definitely on the top of my MUST HAVE list.

I have a hyperwarm top I received from Nike when I worked out at MetLife and it has quickly become my favorite go-to top. The reason I love this top is the fleece lining and the thumbholes.
The hybrid top above has a semi-turtle neck which will make battling the cold on training runs much easier.
I said this last week---MY BIRTHDAY IS MARCH 6--I'll take this in an XL please
[they run a little small]

Favorite Hairstyle: Oh Carrie Underwood, it's just so unfair how perfect you are.

This simple, chic look is my current favorite for my wedding day hair.
Considering I have 9 months until I do it may change a thousand times before then, but for now this it.

Favorite Mani: Tiffany colored polish + bows = my ideal manicure

Oh how I long for this look!

Favorite Wall Idea: Candle Sconces

I love the look of these scrap wood candle holders, classy and chic!

Favorite Quote: This quote sums up my thoughts on life.

Stop stressing, start living.

Favorite Training Program: I am in the market for an easy 1/2 marathon training program

I really like this layout from Fitnesscheerleader, it seems like something I would be able to work with.
My biggest worry with training/running is re-injuring or creating new injuries for myself.
Slow and steady will be the case for me, even if it means starting sooner.
I also don't want to give up my regular fitness routine because I love the classes I take on a weekly basis so I may need to tweak this one a bit for that.

Favorite Some Ecard:

Enough said.

Happy Friday Sweaties!

Salted Dark Chocolate Pretzel Bark!

Remember me?!
It has been almost a week since my last post and this break was completely unintentional, but the holidays took over my life as I am sure they took over yours.

Friday night we actually ended up in the puppy ER with Chance.
He jumped/fell off of the couch Friday afternoon and from what I was told it was a pretty loud thud, followed by some whimpering.
I didn't want to wait to see a vet just in case we were dealing with something serious, so off to the hospital we went.
Thankfully the Vet was able to diagnose him without any x-rays and it our boy is dealing with a bad sprain.
He was put on painkillers + bed rest [his favorite] and is already doing much better!

Between that and the holidays, the boys and I are exhausted!

Christmas was quiet.
Both of my parents came home on Christmas Eve morning from visiting my sister, and they brought back the gift of colds!
So we laid low Monday and most of Tuesday...I rallied and spent Christmas night with my best friend and her family, a semi-tradition we started back in HS. She is in town from Florida for the week and I am trying to soak up as much time with her as I can!

Oh and her puggle Mia as well, it's been a few years since I've spent time with this little gal but she and I had lots of fun catching up.

Lets rewind back to Sunday.

I spent my afternoon like I do every week during football season, at my local bar enjoying Sam Adams-wings-friends and football.
Minus the NY Jets...don't get me started on them ok?
When we were leaving said bar I thought it would be a good idea to attempt a twist on a recipe I found online last week.
Eddie drove Lauren and I to the food store for some supplies and then it was time to make magic happen.

Salted Dark Chocolate Pretzel Bark

2 bags of Hershey's dark chocolate chips
1 bag of Glutino's pretzels
1 cup of butter [ we used earth balance because it was in the fridge already]
1 cup light brown sugar[or dark, whatever you prefer]
Coarse sea salt

How to make this epic recipe:

In a small saucepan combine brown sugar and butter. On a medium low heat, stir until melted and bring to a slight bubble [boil]

In a double boiler place the two bags of chocolate chips, stirring constantly to avoid burning.

On a cookie sheet [if you have a third arm this would really be helpful at this point] lay a sheet of parchment paper down then cover with crushed pretzel pieces.

Drizzle brown sugar- butter combination as evenly as possible over the pretzels, then top with the melted chocolate.

Sprinkle sea salt all over the chocolate and place the tray in the refrigerator for 1-8 hours, depending on how soon you want to face plant into this salty-chocolatey goodness.

Break into pieces and try not to eat it all in one sitting. family has been struggling with this all week...

Is this healthy?
Is it delicious?

And for that reason make it for yourself, family-friends, people who don't like you but you want them to, bosses, NOT your trainer.

Anyone else BUT your trainer.

It will make the world a happier place.

Friday Favorites-Week of 12/17

If you are reading this post then you already know the good news:

I never believed it would but I know some people that really thought we would not be here today...those people should be writing books or making movies because their imaginations are probably filled with awesomeness.

In addition to the world NOT ending today we have another reason to celebrate, it's my little sisters birthday!
Yes, the same sister that also got engaged this week, she leads quite the exciting life I'd say ;)
Happy Birthday Aly!
My gift to you is this Friday Favorites list

It's my gift to the world.

Favorite Sweat: This workout may look familiar to all of you since I posted it on Tuesday, but I am still sore from this workout today.

Glutes, abs, chest and tris are all hurtin' this morning.
I'll have to repeat this circuit in a few weeks

Favorite Must Make Recipe: Baked Avocado Salsa

Is your mouth watering yet?
I cannot wait to make this next summer, I am thinking of doing it grill style.

Favorite Jam: Hallelujah. This song is an oldie but a goodie and with everything that happened last Friday in Newtown, CT it seems to be everywhere again.
Both the Voice and X Factor had singers perform this song but no one does it like Jeff Buckley in my opinion.

Favorite Splurge: Longchamp bag

Large in black. It's only $150 and for what I have heard about these bags it seems under priced.
My birthday is March 6 so you have plenty of time to save ;)

Favorite Future Home Idea: A river in my kitchen!?

This is unlike anything I have ever seen before. I'm not sure how functional it would be, and it's a space stealer BUT imagine it filled with ice during a party?
It would be the talk of the room!

Favorite Manicure: This is my choice for obvious reasons

Baby pink and black french? Classy and current, just like me ;)

Favorite Snack Recipe: Homemade Sugar Cookie Butter from Eat,Live,Run

100% clean, gluten free and wait for it....
[okay, LEGEN....DARY as well]

Lauren and I already have plans to make this tomorrow, all we need is the cashews and banana chips

Favorite Quote:

Favorite Wedding Idea: Pre-wedding cocktails

Our wedding is on a Sunday morning, so I think I'll pair these mini champagne bottles with baby OJs for mimosas for me and my 10 bridesmaids + Mom!

For the bridesmaids reading this, DON'T LET ME FORGET THIS IDEA.

Favorite Some Ecard:
Looks like the malls will be even busier then usual this weekend, all of the last minute-crap the world didn't end-shoppers will be there!

Have a great weekend everyone!
